I have a 3-Pin 24VDC to 5VDC converter (common ground) that I would like to use to supply a voltage divider (variable resistance) transducer. The resulting voltage (0-5VDC) will then go to one of the ADC inputs. Can I tie the analog ground to the common ground to complete the circuit or do I need a DC-DC converter with an isolated ground?
Thanks,
Dale
If the 24VDC supply is the same that is powering the board, you should not have a problem. If not, you would need to see if there is a potential voltage between the main board ground and the 24VDC supply. If there is, you will need to isolate the grounds.
