# Can I remove the wire antenna and solder on an sma connector on an XBee-PRO® 900HP?

I am a grad student in a bit of a tight spot. I have a number of XBee units with wire antennas, however, due to project changes I need to attach external antennas through an sma connector. I know it will void my warranty but is it possible to desolder the wire antenna and add an sma connector to my XBee model?

No it is not recommended to do so as this voids the warranty, and changes the FCC calibration on the module.
