# Can I switch an End device or Coordinator out of Association without powering down

Once I have an Xbee End-Device successfully associated with a Coordinator, so that both modules have automatically selected the cleanest wireless channel, is it possible to switch both modules out of association and back to them both being End-devices without association?

I would like to make both modules revert to 16 bit addressing once the channel has been automatically selected.

Geoffrj,

One of the Association bits for the Coordinator tells it to do a channel scan and select a channel from the channel mask to use. Generally that will be the first clear channel from the mask.
