# Connecting to this computer...

I hav just bought two Anywhere USB devices and are having the same issues on two different OS’s under VMware ESX server 3.x:

1. Windows 2003 Enterprise Server SP2
2. Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4

I have followed the instructions with regards to usbd.sys on both systems, however I do not get any connection to the AnywhereUSB device, just “Connecting to this Computer…”

the device is on the same subnet as both these Vm images, and has a static IP. there is no firewall between any of the systems, and no software firewall is installed on either system.

help, please.

Ok

I found a solution.

Since the device was added after Sercice pack 2 was installed, I tried reinstallign service pack 2, restarted the OS, and then tried reconnecting, and everything worked.

Before all this, I connected the unit direct to a non-vmware lan pc, installed the latest drivers, connected nad that worked, also it updated the firmware to the latest version.
