We have SuSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP3 that we are trying to use Edgeport/416 on with a kernel of 2.6.16.60-0.69.1-smp. I do not want to change my kernel. I am open to building modules from source but the instructions of searching Linux USB lists for io\_ti is a bit ‘light’ on help. Does anyone have any pointers on this?

When I modprobe io\_ti I get:
rivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Edgeport 2 port adapter
drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Edgeport 4 port adapter

The following forum thread describes the steps I used for updating and patching the kernel module for both the 22c and 416 units:

Correction, it’s up now. Ugh.

Let me be the first to say that not having native support for SLES seems a bit backwards. Seems like RHEL and SLES should be standard game for hardware manufacturers.

I just rebuilt the box from the ground up and redid the steps and I get the same error as above.
