Beta problem report: I use an SCS-PTC II demodulator to generate weather fax data that can be processed by two programs- Weather Fax for Windows and JVComm32. The Edgeport 4 works fine under XP, but does not retrieve data, and causes hangs under Vista. Appears to be something in the RS232 implementation that has not been finished yet in the Vista beta. The driver work fine for controlling and using the PTC-II for email (SailMail, Winlink) but is useless for fax. BTW, the Keyspan 4 port with the Vista drivers works fine for fax. Something to look into for the next beta.
Hi,
Please email directly at mikes@digi.com.
We do have another version of our Vista driver coming out in a couple of weeks that has addressed a few bugs. Hopefully it will take care of your issues.
If not, we can of course start the troubleshooting process. Please email me now so I can have your contact info ready to go.
Thanks

Hi sded
I also use PTC-IIex DSP for Pactor email/weather etc., driven via Edgeport/4 but under XP. Looks like a long time before I will be using Vista.
A couple of suggestions. Try using Jim Corenman’s GetFax program for weather fax. It interfaces with his Airmail prog & IMO is a better more versatile weather download program. It seems the issue may be to do with baud rate. Jim recommends you set Airmail to 115200 baud for best fax reception (GetFax uses same settings) but you could try using 57600 or lower.

Fixed in latest set of beta Vista drivers. Also able to reconfigure now, as long as “Run this program as an administrato” is checked on the shortcut. Thanks a lot; Ed
