remote site connectivity

I’m looking into options on a retail sales system with a remote site. They are connected by a dedicated phone line using modems and the C/CON (I think) 8-port concentrator boxes at each location.

What is involved in making the concentrators work through the broadband connection at each location?

Also, how long can the cable be between the host (Acceleport) and concentrator box?

Here are some documents that cover remote C/X configurations using various modems and CSU/DSU devices:

Troubleshooting Guide:

When connecting a Concentrator directly to the adapter, the maximum length for a shielded (HD15) cable is 1000 feet.

That link is what this installation is modelled after ^^^^
It uses the Acceleport C/X ISA on the host with 2 async ports.

One async port leads to the local 16 port C/CON. (That I can leave alone.) The other async port leads to a Multitech modem.

Now, I either need to re-route the 5 remote connections to the local C/CON, or retrieve the other C/CON from the remote site - connect it locally - and somehow weed out the extra modem communication overhead.

What are the odds of accomplishing this without getting the system vendor involved?

Which model of modem are you using, and does it support syncronous communications? Having a clock signal on the line (i.e. modems set for syncronous) is a requirement for C/X Remote to work over remote connections.
