Battery for the SRAM and RCM4300

Hello
On our Rabbit RCM4300 calculators, we use a battery to back up SRAM data when the power is turned off.
This system has worked quite well since we started using this calculator (~ ten years ago).
We generally replace them after five years of use.

For the past few months, we have been experiencing random battery discharge issues with our products.
Given that the products are always abroad, we have to ask our customers to change the battery and reset the thresholds via Ethernet.
It’s a bit of a hassle!

We have put in place a procedure to check the battery voltage before shipping to ensure that what we deliver is correct.
And yet we still have returns of products that are less than 6 months old.

The host cards arrive wired via our subcontractor with the battery assembled. We quickly assemble the calculator on the host card.
The battery used is a PANASONIC CR-2032/BN.
Our batteries in stock are new and stored individually.

Given that our host card has not been modified, how can we ensure that our calculators are not consuming too much power? I will try to measure the leakage current.
Is this a function that is tested by the manufacturer?

The battery is plugged to the VBAT_EXT signal through a 2.2kR.

Thanks for your advice.
