I’d like to know if Xbee series S1 can communicate with Xbee series S2 ? What are the main differences between S1 and S2. There are two much information about it in the internet and I am confused.
Thanks for your helkp

Hi,
Refer the following link, http://www.digi.com/support/kbase/kbaseresultdetl?id=2213 , which specifies differences between S1 ans S2 modules.
To answer your direct question, NO, a S1 cannot talk to a S2 because the mesh they form has different parameters, so they won’t ever be on the same system.
They both use 802.15.4 as a low layer, but that is the same as 2 nodes using Ethernet … which in no way promises that those 2 nodes can say anything meaningful to each other.
