20-101-1318 vs 20-101-1319 Differences?

Hi,

RC6710 with an ethernet jack (20-101-1319) is no longer available but there are some boards without the ethernet jack (20-101-1318). Can I add components to the 20-101-1318 to make it equivaalent? If so, any anyone tell me which parts are needed as I assume it is more than just the jack

Thanks

Here’s my previous answer to the same question. Another reminder that taking on this work will void your warranty.

In addition to populating J2, you need to move jumpers R34, R36, R38, and R40 to R33, R35, R37, and R39. Those 0Ω resistors route the Ethernet signals to either the pins on the RCM67xx edge connector, or to the RJ45 jack. I’d also check to make sure C8, C13, R11 and R14 are populated.

Digi has used the following connectors for that product:

Yuan Dean: 13F-61JGYDPH2NL
Elec & Elltek Ltd: MJFR0799

Thanks for getting back to me Tom

I have used the RCM6710 for many projects in the past. It is sad to see the end of it. Its a pitty they never made a more modern version

It’s definitely the end of an era, but witnessing the manufacturing challenges when key parts go EOL (like flash memory and Ethernet controllers) I understand and accept the decision. And the old, proprietary compiler with limited ANSI C support and various quirks couldn’t compete against modern IDEs and software libraries (like mbedTLS).

It was also sad when they decided to discontinue the RCM6600W, since I liked the idea of having an Ethernet-only and Ethernet+WiFi configuration option on the product.
