5v SPI device on RCM3000

Hi,
I want to add a MCP2515 Standalone SPI CAN controller to my rabbit devboard. My company uses rabbits and PICs for different projects and I am trying to get them all working on the CAN bus.

The MCP2515 runs at 5v due to the driver chip (MCP2551) requiring 5v supply.
I have been told that you may be able to connect it directly to the RCM3000 since its 5v tolerant, is this true? or do I have to put some level conversion in?

RCM3000 –> MCP2515 –> MCP2551
