Automatic activation of relay switch via Digi Transport WR31

I have connected a 12V relay to the WR31 unit and can control the switch using the standard I/O commands via the CLI.

I would like the relay to automatically switch on and off when any equipment the relay is connected to experiences an error.

Looking for any advice/information that might help me do this.

I would think the first question is how you would know if the other device is in error
