ok so i was gifted an old wr44-u digi transport and im trying to get the wireless to work on it. upon opening it up i realized it didnt have a wireless card in it and was wondering if it will take just any wireless card or will it only take the one digi wireless card? Also can i change the gobi card with a newer lte one?

for WIFI you would have to use the same card as used by DIGI as this is the only driver for WIFI
Cellular if you check the release notes that will tell you what cellular modules there are drivers for.
if you do change the gobi module to another one if you use flashwriter to setup new firmware this will also ask which module you have installed and setup the router to use that driver
