Etherlite 160 with two computers

Hi,

I’m new to Digi products. One of our customer has an Etherlite 160 and a software on a Unix system is using devices like display boards, scale, printers, etc connected to the Etherlite 160.

We have developed a software for him and he would like our software, which is a Windows based software, to display information on the same display boards as the Unix software.

Is it possible to use the same ports in parallel from two different computers?

You can have more than one host running the RealPort software. However, you cannot use the serial ports simultaneously from these hosts (first come, first serve). While this works great for print jobs which are spooled (they wait in the spooler until the port is available), it does not work very well for terminals/PC’s/modems.
