I purchased 6 “XBee Series 2 ZB PRO International version” (XBP24-Z7WIT-004J).
From the testing using pairs of XBee, I noticed that the XBee PRO has approximately the same range of the non-PRO model.
The maximum distance reached is about 12 meters indoors (with 2 non-reinforced concrete walls) and 250 meters line of sight (with a bitrate of 9600).
The specifications of this product give 60 meters indoor and 750 meters line of sight.
How can I configure the device to have this range?
Read the Maximizing Range Article: http://ftp1.digi.com/support/images/XST-AN010a-MaximizingRange.pdf Both pro and non pro international variant radios have the same output power. The difference is that the Pro radios have a significantly improved front end LNA for better sensitivity which means that they can can hear “quieter” signals. However all radios are subject to standard link budget concerns and the biggest one is height. Get the radios elevated a bit more and you should see vastly improved range. Also Concrete has lots of water still in the matrix which is death to 2.4 Ghz, but even still elevation improvement will help a lot.
