The maximum range I get when sending an API frame between
2 XBee-Pro wire antenna modules is about 200 metres.
The modules are XBP24-AWI-001 with DigiMesh 804b firmware.
The power level is set at PL=0 which I assume is 10dBm - the required setting in UK.
The modules are part of a handheld device which is operated at waist height.
Both modules have visual LOS, the terrain is flat and the test took place on a clear/dry day.
What typical range do people here get from these modules?
Does anyone get a range of 750m as stated in the manual?
i also got the range test up to 200 meters only. i think in indoor line sight we may get that 750 meters
the digi people tests the modules in the specific conditions not in the out door environment that has the difference in the distance from the manual and practical
Hi,
I have a range of 180 m only with the following conditions:
Module A - XBP24BZ7PIT-004 - XBee-PRO ZB S2B module w/ PCB antenna
Module B - XBP24BZ7UIT-004 - XBee-PRO ZB S2B module w/ U.Fl antenna connector and 5 Dbi external antenna
I have a range of 110 m only with the following conditions:
Module A - XBP24BZ7PIT-004 - XBee-PRO ZB S2B module w/ PCB antenna
Module B - XBP24BZ7PIT-004 - XBee-PRO ZB S2B module w/ PCB antenna
Both test have been made outdoor, in LOS conditions with radios at 1.5 mt height
Question 1 : XCTU is giving me indication that maximum power is 12 dBi not 18 dBi as expected, Why?
Question 2 : if 1.3 Km range is applicable to XBee-PRO ZB S2B module w/ wire antenna what is the right part number to order?
XBP24BZ7WIT-004 or XBP24BZ7WIT-004J
The manual suggests that 750m can be obtained outdoors with RF line-of-sight.
My modules are used at waist height so I must assume that the significant reduction in distance I am getting is due solely to the lack of height from the ground.
