RCM2200 RabbitCore cost

Hi,

I am planning to build a simple webserver that displays a html page with some pictures and values got from sensors.
I need a out of box solution for this. i get the board; i flash the board with minor modifications and should be able to display a page.

i have selected RCM2250 and have couple of questions regarding this.

  1. The rabbit page says “RCM2250 with 10Base-T raw signals only.”
what is ment by raw signals only???

  2. The cost of the RCM2250 development kits is shown as 239$, but when i get the details the core module is available for 73$

whats the deal with that? can i purchase the core module and the prototyping board alone?

also will this package be suitable for my requirement??
I have worked with 8 bit and 32 bit microcontrollers, but not with ethernet…

thanks

The raw signals mean you need to supply a board with the RJ45 connector, pulse transformer (or use an integrated magnetics connector) andfilter capacitors etc to complete the ethernet interface.

From the sound of it you probably need one of the Single Board computer products rather than the Core or MiniCore products if you want to have minimal hardware setup.

Peter

thanks for the information Peter,

i am actually converting all the analog data using a different setup and can give it to the Rabbit serially.

regarding the “Raw signals” can i use the other board that says just “RCM2250 with 10Base-T”??

and if you are aware of the price details can you please let me know?

thanks

Generally, the core and minicore modules are designed to be integrated into a hardware design and provide a convenient way to drop the processing functionality into a design i.e. there would be a board designed by you which has your custom circuitary on it and a socket to accept the core module…

If you were doing a one off project (i.e. not producing lots of units) then either the core (in this case the RCM2250) development kit or one of the SBCs like the BL4S100 is probably your best bet.

You can usually get an idea of the 1 off price by following the Buy Online Now link on the product page or browising the rabbit online store. Some of the datasheets also have the basic pricing for 1 and 100 of quantities.

Peter
