When you use the Code Warrior + Xbee tools, what firmware would be in the EM250 portion of the unit? API or AT?

If you are using a XBee ZB S2B, the radio should work in API mode, if it has an AT firmware most of the examples that imply communication with the radio will not work.
If you are using the XBee ZB S2C (SMT variant), both modes will work, because if it is in AT mode, the hardware initialization process will automatically set the radio to work in API mode.
