I am using the XTend modules in a space constrained application. The 1/2 wave duck antennas that come standard with the units are over 6" in length, whereas there are off the shelf 1/4 wave antennas, of the appropriate frequency, that are much shorter. Are there any downsides to using the 1/4 wave antennas, other than possibly reduced range? Since this is a mobile application, I am not using the modules at the full 1 W power, but rather at 100 mW.
Yes, the product is NOT certified for use with a 1/4 Wave antenna and is not certifiable with a 1/4 wave antenna.
