AccelePort RAS4

I’ve got an older AccelePortRAS4 modem. I’m in the process of moving my modems to a different server. I have disabled COM3 and I want to move that phone line to a different server. How can I tell which connection is for COM3?

I assume that since I have COM3,4,5,6 as my options, COM3 would be assoicated with line 1, but I hate to assume.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

By default, the modems will install in order. The first modem (the connection closest to where the adapter plugs into the PC’s system board) should be Com 3.

Thanks for the help.

One thing that concerns me is that when I look in device manager, I’ve got Digi Acceleport RAS Modem 1 through 4 listed. Modem 1 is actually COM4. Modem 2 is COM3. That’s what confused me.

There is nothing unusual about the server. It only has this 4 modem card and no other modems.

Basically what I did was disable my software that’s using these modems and then disabled the modem in device manager. I needed to do this so that the software will not use the modem after I unplug the phone line.

There is something unusual in your system (or was).
Do you have a built in modem or an internal modem?
Is this what what disabled?
This can mess up your port and modem numbering.
I recommend that you stop any application or service using the modems and then uninstall the Digi modems from the device manager. Then uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the AccelePort RAS adapter.
Then the modems should be numbered correctly and be in order.

Joel, As long as the modems work for you, there is no need to try and “adjust” the numerical order. Normally, the modems are installed in order.
