Are modem AT commands passed through in transparent mode

Hi,

I’m coming from the raw modem world, where the modem powers up, and you send AT commands to it. With the Digi Cat-M modem, it defaults to transparent mode. Do AT commands get passed through to the modem in transparent mode, or are they wrapped in some type of digi serial protocol? If not, which modes allow AT commands to be sent to the modem?

Is it possible to change modes without XCTU? Is the AP command just a text AT command, or something wrapped in a special digi protocol?

Thanks,
Cliff

Cliff,

On the Digi XBee Cellular modules, you don’t need to know or issue generally cellular AT commands. These functions are wrapped in our firmware for the XBee. All you need to do is to set a few of our AT commands such as IP (Protocol), DL (Destination address), Source and destination ports CO and DE.

Once set, all you need to do is feed it data just like a serial cable.
