Constant Framing Errors during RS-232 Read on PortServer TS4

Hello All,

Problem: I am having issues reading the correct data with my PortServer Ts, I am getting constant Framing Issues on the Digi PortServer while trying to read data from another Rs232 device while in TCP Sockets mode. The data that is read is garbled and not the correct data that was originally sent.

Model: Port Server TS4 H MEI
Firmware Version: Version 82000747_AA 06/17/2022

I have confirmed that All Serial Settings are correct on both devices, same Baud, Data bits, Parity, and Stop Bits, and Have tried multiple different variations of them to try and correct the issue.

I verified the DIP switches on the bottom of the device are set to RS-232.

I read online that the PortServer is a DTE device and am sending data from a DCE device with a strait cable, which should be the correct cable?

I was able to read correct data from the device with a RS-232 to usb converter on my PC. So not an issue with the device itself.

All the issues point to either the cable between the device and the port server or the port server itself.

Thanks and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can confirm that you should be using straight through (NOT null modem) serial cabling to connect a DTE port to a DCE port.

Issue was with cabling. I was using a crossover cable and not a strait cable.
