I’m fairly new to this field, so don’t shoot me if I’m asking stupid questions. I’m currently looking into hooking up a NS9750 (or perhaps a 9360 in the future) to an ethernet connection using the onboard MAC. ThreadX will probably be the OS of choice. The input will be more or less streaming data from an FPGA that needs to be transported over the ethernet connection. All the microcontroller has to do is add the TCP/IP headers etc and stuff the data on the line. What I’m curious about it the speed I might be able to achieve with either the NS9750 or the NS9360. I’m aiming for somewhere between 40 to 80 Mbps; would this be possible?
Hello … you’ll need to test in the specific environment that you will use it in. e.g. How much other traffic there will be on the same network. Otherwise a throughput between 40-80 shouldn’t be much of a problem. //Henrik
Thank you for your reply. I was about to edit my post yesterday to add that the network environment should be considered optimal, but I couldn’t find the edit button, hehe. I’m glad to hear that the speed won’t be limited by the microcontroller, but instead depends on the network. I’ll let you guys know how it’s going
I also have an FPGA application. I’m using a Wiznet W3100A chip, and have 50mbps throughput using TCP, hooked to a Dell Laptop. It works great, but I’m looking for an alternate part in case Wiznet goes poof. Do you have any ideas?
Hi randy Would I ask you give me more information about your FPGA application and Wiznet W3100A chip with 50mbps throughput? Is the FPGA application so complicated?
Dear Mr.randy, I am also looking to develop the W3100A-LF configuration through FPGA. I have some application related to Cryptography. Can I know the details of your way of how you did this? If you feel free kindly let me know the details to my mail id: t_krantikumar@yahoo.com thanks inadvance…
