I’m not using the interface board, just a breadboard with exporer for conencting to pc via usb.

Could you be more explicit on which module are you using (programmable, non-programmable…?). I am not sure that I understand the question, if you are not reading nor writing to/from the UART it’s not necessary to connect it to anything. Best regards,
