No modem detected TX54

Issue with TX54 not connecting to internet, firmware i 24.6.17.69 , the model is Digi TX54-Dual-Cellular, SKU in the web interface is showing WR54-A246. This modem has been working until recently. In status/Modems its showing all N/A and a state of recovering firmware.

WWAN1 signal service WWAN2 signal and service do not have any lights on the front

In network/modems the modems are enabled but in terminal show modem returns with wwan1 status of Recovering Firmware. Any help would be appreciated

Good afternoon,

Since you said this TX54 was previously working and suddenly stopped working, a good question is “what changed”? Are you aware of anything that changed around the time the issue started occurring? Were any settings changed, was the device moved somewhere else, etc.?

One common reason for a cellular-based device to suddenly stop working is that the SIM card (its data plan) could have gone from active to inactive (for example if a bill wasn’t paid), so that’s something to look into as well (check with the SIM provider on that).

Hi!

Nothing changed, settings change, no move no firmware update, there is no remote manager connected, we have checked that the sim is active, the problem seems to be that the modems are not being detected, Re message “Recovering Firmware” could the firmware gotten corrupted and needs reinstalled?

Are you able to provide a screenshot that shows “In status/Modems its showing all N/A and a state of recovering firmware”?

Here is the screenshot, thanks

@Tam , that screenshot looks like the Router’s built-in Modem is trying to recover the firmware. Since the ability to update cellular modem firmware is something which is facilitated by the device’s OS itself, as a first step I’d recommend updating the OS firmware to the current 26.2 LTS build, after which hopefully the cellular firmware update could complete.

If not, you’ll want to create a Tech Support case with the Serial Number of your device, so we can check to see if its still within its warranty coverage period, or to work with Tech Support otherwise to see if your device can be returned to a sane state.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the info, this is a TX54 dual cellular, i was looking in ftp site but could not see the firmware listed for the TX54, if you dont mind can you provide the location and file name where i can download as we dont have remote manager running and there is no internet connectivity form this modem ill install the firmware manually once I have it.

If you do not already have a Digi Remote Manager account, you can get a free “firmware only” one, which will allow you to download TX54 system firmware (for you to then browse to from the TX54’s webUI (System > Update Firmware) to update it manually). To get a free “firmware only” Digi Remote Manager account setup, go to https://remotemanager.digi.com and then click “Request firmware access”.
