Problem with XB24C series

I have a problem with the communication range of XB24CZPIS004-revE modules. The range of communication between the two modules in the open space is <70m, but according to the datasheet should be up to 1200m. The signal power is set to maximum. We tried the firmware version ZIGBE 401E and ZIGBEE 4043.

How high are your antennas above obstructions?
How long are your cables between the radio and the antenna?
What gain antenna are you using?
What settings on the radio has been changed from the default value?

>How high are your antennas above obstructions?
For 1st module: 1.5m for second: 6-7m

>How long are your cables between the radio and the antenna?

We using modules with pcb antenna: https://images.digi.com/products/xbee-zigbee-smt-xb24cz7pis-004

>What settings on the radio has been changed from the default value?
We changed only “Coordinator enable” on 1st module and set destination adresses for each other.

P.S. Recently we tested the XB24-Z7WIT-004 modules under the same conditions and the range of their communication correspond to the declared (90m).

In what orientation are you placing the PCB version antenna?

We have tried both horizontal and vertical orientations.

Today we checked out the communication range with firmware 802.15.4 SMT. It increased slightly: up to 150m in open space.

Again, how high was the module placed above all obstructions?

Nothing has changed:
>For 1st module: 1.5m for second: 6-7m

Try reading over http://knowledge.digi.com/articles/Knowledge_Base_Article/Maximizing-range/?q=maximizing+range&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1. You are going to learn quickly that in order to go the max distances, you need to be more like 6m and higher above ALL obstructions.
