RCM5700 Ethernet Interface Documentation Issues

I am starting my board layout for the RCM5700
I am looking at the the following documentation and its confusing and conflicting.

TN266.pdf (PCB Layout for the Ethernet PHY Interface)
498-0092.pdf (13F-61JGYDPH2NL RJ45 data sheet)

Using these 2 documents i have the following issues.

#1) Figure 2 of TN266 shows pin 8 being used. according to the RJ45 data sheet pin 8 is N.C.
#2) in Figure 2 pin 14 connects to ground then through a bead then to ground again, i am assuming this is just a typo as one of these should be earth ground ?

Now if i add the RCM5700 development kit schematic (090-0269.pdf) to the mix of above documents things get even more crazy…

Using the development kit schematic it shows pin 8, 13 tied together then to earth ground via a bead to digital ground. Yet TN266 document shows just pin 8, 13 tied together and thats it. So which is it ?

Hi seulater!

I developed my board with ethernet inteface.
I did not use the same connector that is on the dev kit and my system works well.
Connect the ACT and LINK line exactly as on the dev board (that is the same on the RCM module) because the ACT and LINK pin are pins used on the start-up.
I did not use bead on my board and all is working…

I was wondering about the beads as i have not seen any other Ethernet device use them on a filtered jack. I also would like them to offer a list of compatible more easily accessible mag jacks. from say like Digi_Key or Mouser.
