SP Post Differences

I just purchased an DIGI One SP and compared the Post Release information for this unit with several Digi One SP devices that I have continued to upgrade over the years via the Digi website.

Here is what I see:

Newly Purchased Digi One SP Post: release_82001178_G

Older Digi One SP that I have continued to update via the Digi Website for a number of years shows a Post of: release_82000775_F.

Both units report the firmware is 82000774_U dated 11/9/07.

Since these two Posts are so different, yet obviously used with the same Firmware defined in two different Digi One SP Products, what gives???

There was a change in the way the EOS firmware works on the unit.

As you’ve already discovered, the old units will have a POST of 82mil775. At the rev. F level, a new type of POST called Universal POST was used in a number of our products (hence the name Universal).

The Universal POST never needs to be updated, which is why you won’t find it available on our Support website “Firmware” pages for download.

The two are not compatible, i.e. an 82mil775 POST can not be changed to 82mil1178, and vice versa.

Hope that clears up the confusion.
