I’m trying to upgrade the firmware on my ConnectPort X4 and getting “Unable to update firmware: reason unknown”. Current firmware version is 2.8.4.13 (Version 82001536_E1 05/20/2009), POST version is 1.1.3 (release_82001537_F). I’ve downloaded 82001536_E4.bin from the digi.com support site.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Turns out it was a memory issue. The Dia stuff I’ve got running is a memory hog and I think I had around 800kB free. I disabled auto-start for Dia and was able to update the firmware.
Thankyou for the follow up. Also, I moved this to the iDigi Dia forum, since this is a good post to have there as memory consumption and how it might affect other things is good to be aware of when using the Dia.
