Using XBee pro as coordinator and modem

Hello everyone,

I have a question to ask. I have a pair of XBee pro. I am not sure if it is 802.15.4 but when I hit the test button in X-CTU and I got the modem type, it’s XBP-24. When I write the modem type, in the fuction set, I see XBee Pro 802.15.4.

My purpose is to configure my xbee pair to use a ZB protocol so that I could choose its function to be either coordinator or modem.

I am not sure if this is possible since when I try to change the modem type from XBP-24 to another one, like XBP24-ZB, the firmware won’t be written to the device.

Thanks in advance,

Sotiris

The XBP-24 (“Module S1”) and the XBP24-ZB (“Module S2/S2B”) have different processors and hardware, so there is no way to mix the firmware.

Both are based on the 802.15.4 radio layer, so in theory Digi could create a ZigBee firmware which runs on the XBP-24 (“S1”), but they don’t offer that.
