VMWare ESX support and Linux

We are in the process of migrating an application server that requires a USB license dongle from a physical Windows server to a VMWare ESX virtual Linux server. As part of the evaluation we are exploring methods of providing high availability of the license dongle to the ESX cluster for VMotion activities. Our ideal solution is a single hardware appliance such as the AnywhereUSB or Keyspan device server that is directly accessed by the Linux server. Thus far we are finding that published information about support for Linux, especially in an ESX environment, is sorely lacking for both of these products.

Does the AnywhereUSB product line support the scenario described above? If not, are there any development plans to provide support for the scenario described above?

We only offer AnywhereUSB drivers for Windows Operating systems.

I’m unclear on if the guest Operating System running on the virtual machine is running Windows or Linux.

I know that ESX itself (the virtualization server) runs Linux. Is that what you mean when you said Linux?

Please clarify.
