I am trying to use Flashwriter to update this unit. It starts up fine, I follow the prompts and it errors out with “Unable to obtain boot-loader control”. I have tried over ethernet and with a custom serial cable. I can communicate with the unit with the serial cable using AT commands. I am currently at a loss. Any ideas?

Thanks for the articles.
I have been using a serial cable as it seems to be the best solution as it is a direct connection.
I have followed all the appropriate steps such as installing Flashwriter, having the .all file to load and knowing which celluar card is in my unit. I have run Flashwriter and followed all of the prompts. After choosing the celluar type, it instructs me to shut off the unit and press ok, the turn the unit back on. Flashwriter takes over from there and tries to get control of the bootloader. It is not successful. This is where I am stuck. I have tried many times without success. I am hoping someone has had this issue and can point me in the right direction. Is there a reason that Flashwriter would not be able to obtain bootloader control? I also have tried this on two different units - both WR44RRs.
Sorry for not responding sooner.
There is a KB article specific to FlashWriter over Serial, does this help?
