XCTU NextGen vs. Legacy range test

I just received a dev kit for the XBee Pro. I am attempting the range test and it works fine in the old version of XCTU but in the new version it tells me that “device discovery is not supported in this module” and refuses to do anything. What gives? I have one module plugged into a laptop and the other is on the power supply with the jumper enabled…

There are two things you can do. The first is to just use the old version of XCTU. The 2nd is to simply upgrade the firmware on the modules to the current version.

The chips do have the newest firmware … maybe its too new? The old software is going to have to be it for the time being as the range testing is critical for me.

Hello tginnett,

my dev kit arived 2 days ago, I am also quite new with it.

I also had some problems at the beginning but now it works.

-I use the XCTU NextGen
-I changed some setings
–base radio :DH = SH of remote radio
DL= SL of remote radio
–remote radio DH=SH of base radio
DL=SH of base radio
-Jumper P8 set on the remote radio (powerd with the power supply)
-P8 open on the base radio

You need min. 1 meter between the radios if you set the Power Level (PL) to 1mW

I hope that will help

Thanks! I will give this a try…
