Can I use XBee as a router which extend the distance?

Hi Digi Team,

Thank you for your support.
I have a question.

I use XBee3 with transparent mode of 1 to 1 communication.

When I set to [Digi XBee3 802.15.4] in the XBee3 Function, CE (Device Role) register choices are only [End Device[0]] and [Cordinatior[1]].

Is there other choice, for example [Router] ?

In my case, transparent mode of 1 to 1 communication, I would like to know the way to extend the communication distance.

Can I use XBee as a router which extend the distance?

Could you please tell us how to extend the communication distance, even if it is by means other than a router?

Thank you for your support.

The IEEE 802.15.4 protocol is a Point to point, point to multi-point protocol running the MAC layers of the OSI model.

You would need to use the Zigbee or Digi Mesh versions of the firmware to have the ability of a router as these protocols operate in the Networking layers of the OSI model.

@mvut san

Thank you so much for your information.
I have additional question.

*Can you provide the firmware for it?

Kind Regards,
Takashi

Takashi,

You can obtain the firmware files using the Digi XCTUNG software XCTU Support Resources

You can then use this software to view the current modules settings, make changes to the settings or even perform firmware updates.
