I installed the card per instructions into an IBM F-50. Once installed the card was recognized by the O/S.
I then built my TTYs with no issue, again they were recognized as AVAILABLE.
Basically everything looks great on the install. When I attempt to use the card (using VSI Fax) the machine hangs attempting to open the port.
I have no errors in any logs. I have removed and re-installed. Re-installed into a different PCI slot.
As a note here, this machine had been our fax server until a disk error. As we didn’t have a back-up at the time we moved the card to another F-50. We are now setting up the original server as a backup.
As it appears all is well I’m lost on next troubleshooting step. Ideas?

I haven’t re-configured CU yet, but it basically gets the same error as the fax software’s test util:
new-fax#/> vtalk -v /dev/tty3
vtalk - for tech support use only
I would kill any processes on the port(s), add a “Direct” entry to the /usr/lib/uucp/Devices file and see if you can communicate with the modem(s) using cu:
chown uucp:uucp /dev/tty#
cu -ml /dev/tty## -s 38400
If not, we would suspect that the adapter may have gone bad. In which case, you will want to contact Digi Technical Support to pursue repair arrangments.
