AnywhereUSB Maximum Units per PC

What is the maximum unit allowed to connect to a single host PC?

I have read through the documentation stating “up to seven hubs can be connected parallel at any given level”

Does this means the maximum unit is 7?

thanks.

Technical Specification
“Up to 8 AnywhereUSB boxes may be connected to one server”

“AnywhereUSB/5 Installation Guide”
According to “Understanding Hubs” in page 19, USB Specificationn “up to 7 units can be connected parallel at any given level”.

7 or 8 unit? i’m confused.

That number 7 is referring to the maximum number of hubs that can be daisy chained (connected to each other).

The number 8 refers to the maximum number of AnywhereUSBs that can connect to a host PC. Since there’s no way to daisy chain an AnywhereUSB (since they all sit on the network and are unique), these two numbers mean two different things.

So, in other words, you could have 8 AnywhereUSBs on the network, all connected to a host PC. Each of those AnywhereUSBs could then have up to 7 traditional (USB-attached) USB hubs connected to it.

In summary, that number 7 is a rule related to USB hubs in general.

The number 8 is related to the AnywhereUSB specifically.

Thanks for the clarification.

“Each of those AnywhereUSBs could then have up to 7 traditional (USB-attached) USB hubs connected to it.”

the AnywhereUSB only have 5 ports, how does the 7 usb hubs limitation applies?
do we have to cascade the usb hubs? if yes, are the usb hubs self powered?

What I mean is, 7 daisy chained, total. In other words, pretend that you had a traditional (USB-attached) USB hub attached to port 1 of the AnywhereUSB. You could then have another (second) hub attached to that hub, and then another (third) hub attached to that hub, and so forth. I think I was wrong saying 7 traditional USB hubs connected to the AnywhereUSB. Since the AnywhereUSB itself is a hub, it counts as one hub, at least I think so.
