Association led

I need to use the association led to know if a end-device node is associated to a network or not.
As to the ZB manual (90000976_D 8/18/2009), page 69, the DIO5 should be HIGH when the device is not associated, and should blink when the device is associated.
Actually I find that, when the device is associated,

  • when the device is sleeping, the DIO5 is LOW
  • when the device is waked up, the DIO5 is HIGH

I can’t find this behaviour in the manul.
I’m using the 2864 firmware and I verified that the D5 parameter was set to 1.

The behavior of the Assoc LED can vary depending on whether or not the module is associated to a Coordinator, as well as whether it was asleep when the Ident button is pushed. Please refer to page 13 of the following Users Guide:

Thanks for your reply.
The manual refers to visual signals that are available when pressing the reset button.
But I can’t find the behaviour of the Assoc LED port in a ZB OEM module when the device is working.
I know that the Assoc LED behaves differently on whether or not the module is associated to a Coordinator, but I can’t find what is that behaviour!

In your post you refer to the rev D manual, but I’m showing the rev. F manual as the current one posted on our Support website: http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/90000976_F.pdf

On pages 80/81 of the link above the Associate pin (pin 15) is discussed. Is this the info you were looking for?

Yes, that would be the info I’m looking for.
But that documentation is wrong, because, when the module is in sleep status, the Associate pin (pin 15) is low instead of high.
Can you confirm that the documentation is wrong (or incomplete)?

Where do you see that pin 15 should be anything other than low when an XBee module is joined to a PAN and asleep?

On pages 49/50 the manual talks about End Device operation. Though the LED is blinking when the End Device joins a PAN in #4, in #9 the same End Device is attempting to enter “low power” mode based on its sleep settings. Low Power mode would turn off the Assoc LED to conserve power.

I can put in a request to get the documentation if there’s an error, I’m just not seeing it so please let us know.
