Can the GPS facility on a WR44-U be used as a tracker?

I have acquired a few units (v1) that were originally fitted to railway vehicles as part of the remote monitoring system. I am going to build a Wi-fi access point and was also interested in using the GPS facility so we could locate the vehicle when out on hire.
We have servers available that we can install a “listening script” or suchlike on of necessary.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Digi Forums.

The GPS in these devices can be used out of the box to send the information (NEMA) to a TCP/UDP server.
You can also just get the information from the web interface / cli

You can find details of that in the User Guide: https://www.digi.com/resources/documentation/digidocs/90001019/default.htm#containers/cont_transport_config_positions.htm%3FTocPath%3DConfiguring%2520telemetry%2520(GPS)%2520|_____0

Please note that these devices are old and are not supported anymore (hardware/firmware)

Thank you
