i have one xbee pro s2b with rpsma anteena (external antenna) and second one is xbee s2c or pro s2c with in-built antenna. is it possible to communicate between them.
if possible please kindly suggest the settings what are all i need set between them.
Yes, the two radios can talk.
In a ZB network, you will need one radio to act as the coordinator and the other to be either a router (always on) or an end device (sleeping).
The S2B has limited memory and as such requires a different load of firmware for each of the module types (Router AT or Router API, Coordinator AT or Coordinator API and End Device AT or API).
The S2C has more memory and thus only needs a change to some of the parameters.
If you have the S2B setup as a router AT or API, I would leave it as such and setup the S2C as a Coordinator.
This can be done by setting the CE parameter to 1 on the S2C.
In other words, whatever the S2B is currently, keep it that way. Change the S2C as it doesn’t require a firmware change.
Adding to rocker’s fine answer, I’ll suggest any problems you have are LESS likely to be caused by the S2B-vs-S2C, than by firmware generations. So make sure you try to match up (date-wise) the FW as closely as possible. So using 6 year old FW on your S2B and latest FW on S2C is more likely to cause a problem than the hardware change.
In fact, even mixing S2B with very old & very new FW on same network/mesh can cause joining problems. Try to keep your ‘mesh’ all running a similar FW (by age).
