Is it possible at all to program the module to communicate with an USB device?
The Connect ME has a serial port UART based communications only for the local board. What you need is an interface chip. Check out the Silicon Labs F32x series of chips for programmed interfaces. Also the CP2102 has a pre-programmed serial to USB interface.
