Does XBee WiFi Support P2P or WiFi Direct

Does XBee WiFi support the capability to directly connect 2 XBee WiFi devices without the need for an external WiFi router and DHCP server?

I was looking at this guide:
https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/xbee-wifi-hookup-guide

And it suggests that you can communicate by setting the DH destination on each module to the other module’s ip address.

Does this mean you have to be associated with a router first or is there any way to have the 2 wifi xbee modules talk directly to each other like XBee series 1 and 2?

Sure, you would use the Soft AP mode.
