How do I set the (CM) Channel Mask Value on the Xbee PRO SX?

I am trying to figure out how to set the Channel Mask on the XBee PRO SX. I have read the information in the users manual here but I still don’t understand how to do this.

I am looking for something like the following document but this is for the 802.15.4 ZigBee units.

Can anyone help me out with a more descriptive explanation for the Channel Mask?
