Leave your base at defaults.

Set the Mult-point remotes DL and DH to your base modules SL and SH.

After doing this, the two XBees are still unable to communicate or discover each other. What else could be the problem? Everything else is set to default, but in XCTU no data is going through.

What is the Channel mask set to?

The Node Discovery function in XCTU will only work if the radio connected to the PC is in API mode.

I tried communicating through the console terminal. Seeing they were not communicating, I changed the API mode to 1, and used the Node Discovery function to see if they can see each other that way, but still the XBees were unable to communicate.

AF is FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
CM at FFFFFFFFFFF7FFFF (default) and FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF both do not work.
Transmit Options at 0x40 and 0xC0 both do not work.
Would there be a profile I can try for firmware 8074? or any suggestions? thanks.

Try simply restoring them to factory defaults (ATRE) and seeing if you can do a node discovery (ATND).
