I have verified the connections and both xbees are operating at 802.15.4(version 10CD).I would appreciate if you can tell me where the problem be present at.
I acquired the DIGI 2/8, but unfortunately I can not find it on the net.
Previous module were 4/8 I see on the net.
I wanted to find out if there is a difference between them?

What do you mean by Digi 2/8 and 4/8. What product are you referring to?
As for the XBee modules, try restoring them to default settings. Then connect both XBIB boards to the PC and launch two instances of XCTU. One for one port and one for the 2nd com port. Then use the terminal tab and try sending data from one to the other.
