Yes, that is what will happen. The 27A0 firmware has no serial port support. That firmware is only for use with the Digi XBee DIO Adapter product, and not normal usage.
If you wish to merely read the XBee I/O, then you should use normal AT or API firmware - like 22A0 for Router AT.
To recover the Xbee, you will need to follow the procedure here VERY CAREFULLY. It works, but if your timing is off you might need to retry a few times. Then load something but NOT the digital or analog I/O, nor the ‘Sensor’ firmware.

But after pressing “enter” or “b” /“B” in the terminal window there is no menu appearing, but only 1.5 lines of red dots… can anyone help me with this?
