No Serial Ports?

I just upgraded to 9.62 on a new laptop. Things were working OK. One thing that I have done since things worked is to add a PCMCIA-Serial card for more ports.

Now, DC9.62 doesn’t see any ports, even COM1, although they show up in the device manager. I uninstalled the PCMCIA stuff and it still does not see COM1.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled DC, still doesn’t work.

Can Anybody Help?

See if you can find updated drivers for the PCMCIA serial port card you are using. Most likely, the problem is within the driver that was loaded when you installed that card. The driver that ships with some of these cards can be very early versions and can be quite buggy. See if you can find a newer one on the internet. If you can identify the brand and model of the PCMCIA serial card, I could possibly point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately, poorly written serial drivers will often show up within Windows, but not work with all applications.
