PortServer II - sending input

Hello

Was hoping someone could help me out. I have some Digi PortServer II’s. I have them connected to some Cisco switches. Most things work OK, I can type commands fine etc. I am having some strange behavior though, it seems to always be sending input to the Cisco devices. Sometimes when the Cisco prompts me for something to type in, then it will go straight back to the Cisco prompt as if I pushed enter without typing anything in. Also when I connect to a switch that is at the login prompt it keeps looping back to the prompt as if I am pushing enter.

Any help appreciated. Here are my ports settings:

serial# termtype dev sess uid edelay auto bin group dport dest

sounds like a raw socket vs. telnet socket. Sounds like you’re getting unwanted carriage returns.

Hi Keith

Thank you for your response. Do you not think it could just be a setting I have missed on the Digi Servers? I am not doing anything out of the ordinary, just connecting them to a Cisco switch. I have created the cables as per the pinouts on this site.

I gave them an IP address etc then put the following line in:

set ports range=1-15 dev=prn auto=off

I can telnet to the Digi Server on the relevant port, e.g. 2001 for port 1, 2002 for port 2 etc. I get the Cisco prompt. I was able to get by before I had passwords on the Cisco console ports. Now that I have put passwords on the console ports of the switches, it seems to be interrupting the login sequence.

P.S Sorry just to add to this post. This is the first time I have used these before so I know very little about them so excuse my sparse knowledge of them. Normally I Cisco Terminal Servers.

Thanks
Mark
