Dear Sir
On our hardware system installed PortServer II16, connected Pc.s used as terminals and worked under win XP.
We have equipment G703/64Kbps –STD analog port (centradirectional) and other end has RS232 DB-25 interface; we need connect G703 equipment via RS 232-DB25 on one port on PortserverII16 to make connection by G703 to other end.
Questions:
1-which cable type must use to make good connection between Port on portServer II16 and RS232-DB25 (G703)? And please provide us pinout cable to make one.
2-After connect Rs232-DB-25(G703) with Rs232 port on PortserverII16 and short analog port in G703 to make Loopback to sure transfer data same received. How can do that by PortserverII16 or by HyperTerminal or do you have special program?
3- What are parameters must enter in port on Portserver to work with G703?
4-we connected Portsever II16 via COM1 on PC to see IP extant in by HyperTerminal, we connected portServer and Pc via switch, and tried ping IP on portserver the result no response (timeout) can you tell me what possible problem?

A: In order to answer that question, we need to know whether the G703’s DB25 is a DTE or DCE device. This is used to determine whether a null or straight cable needs to be used. Once this is determined, the standard RJ45-DB25 cable of that type (null or straight) could be used.

2-After connect Rs232-DB-25(G703) with Rs232 port on PortserverII16 and short analog port in G703 to make Loopback to sure transfer data same received. How can do that by PortserverII16 or by HyperTerminal or do you have special program?

A properly pinned RJ45 loopback plug will need to be inserted in the correct Portserver II serial port. If the Realport driver is being used, loopback of the associated com port or tty device could be done via the server where Realport is installed. If no driver is being used, loopback can be accomplished by connecting to the Portserver II serial port in TCP Server (i.e. reverse telnet) mode. 3- What are parameters must enter in port on Portserver to work with G703?

That question can’t be answered without knowing what serial parameters the G703 uses (baud rate, parity, stop bits, flow control). The Portserver II and G703 serial settings must match. Here are the baud rates which the Portserver II serial port supports:
75,110,134,150,200,300,600,1200,1800,2400,4800,9600, 14400,19200,28800,38400,57600,76800,115200

Hard to say. My guess is either the Portserver II and/or PC doesn’t have an IP address or route to each other, or the wrong type of ethernet cable is being used (connecting either PC or Portserver II to an ethernet hub would require a standard ethernet cable, not crossover).

Pin5 CTS, pin 6 DSR, pin 20 DTR, pin 8 DCD, pin 24 ETC, pin 15 TC, pin 17 RC.
-Date rate : 64kbps for synchronous
19.2kbps for asynchronous (RS232)
Data type: Unbalanced for RS232
Data format: one start bit, 8 data bits, no parity,
and one stop bits
For your attention:
I did cable same as P/N 76000252 and connected this cable between one port on Portserver II16 with G703 device, other connector (synchronous) on G703 device I did short between signals (TR and RD) and so between return ground to execute Loopback between booth devices (G703 and PortserverII16). from special program on the PC which connected on one portserver, send text file to the number port which connected on G703 but unfortunately received rubbish data not same.

-Dose PortserverII16 accept work with X.21interface? If yes, what are pinouts if I need make cable RJ45- 10 pin (portserver) other end DB25 and so second cable RJ45- 10 pin (Portserver) other end DB-9.

The Portserver II 16 is an asynchronous-only device. Since you mention the G703 is syncronous DCE, this is likely why you’re seeing garbage on the serial port. We don’t support clocking pins 15, 17, or 24 for instance. X.21 is also a differential syncronous protocol, so I don’t think this will work.
