Range of XBee Pro RF module

Hi,

I am working on the XBEE RF module and it’s not giving the range as mentioned in the datasheet. I just move out of the room and stop getting data.

If there’s some hurdle like a wall, then the range got even lower. So, what’s the solution? How can I increase its range? Can I use copper wire to increase the length? I am going to design its multilayer PCB so adding an antenna won’t be an issue.

Sounds like the wall you are working thru either has metal in it or is made of concrete. Both of which will block the signal and reduce the range.

For an Indoor/urban Non RF LOS environment, you will need to add 12dB in gain to your system to double the range. The other solution is to obtain RF LOS conditions.
