Simple application without host computer/MCU

Is it possible for two XBee modules to work without using MCU or host computers?

What I mean is the following:

XBee #1 read its digital pin D0, then XBee #2 just change the output of its pin D0 according to the status of XBee #1. No too much could be done like that, but for simple application, that may be a prefect low cost solution.

This only works with the 802.15.4 (or ‘S1’) and it is called ‘I/O Line Passing’. Look in the user manual for what you need to set.

Other XBee (ZigBee/S2, Digimesh/S3, WiFi) do NOT do this and never will.
